Welcome to MetalTek
OUR STORY
In 1951, a gentleman named Smitty broke ground on a small shop off US 1 in Melbourne to start a small welding shop named Smitty's Welding.
He did great work and built a reputation as a reliable welder until 1978 when he sold Smitty's Welding to Mr. JD Bauer. JD continued with the same honesty and reliable welding skills and operated Smitty's for 40 years. As JD looked to retire, he asked if his neighbor, Brian Haire, owner and founder of Property Renovations and Construction, was interested in buying the company.
Having used Smitty’s Welding services for years and not wanting to see part of Melbourne’s history disappear, Brian purchased Smitty’s Welding in 2018.
Smitty’s Welding, a welding shop with a rich history spanning over 70 years, has recently embarked on a new chapter. We are excited to announce our rebranding and the adoption of a new name – MetalTek.
We plan to bring the welding shop into the future with better technology and state-of-the-art tools and machinery to support the fast-growing Space Coast while maintaining Smitty’s integrity and long history. As we add new facilities and a large mobile presence to serve Central Florida and the Space Coast, you will see its growth over the next few years.

Furthermore, we assist apartment complexes and condominium associations by delivering reliable welding repairs, fabrication, and installation services. Lastly, our partnership with construction equipment companies involves fabricating and repairing essential metal components, ensuring optimal performance and durability on job sites. Our diverse clientele reflects the breadth of our expertise and underscores our ability to meet the unique needs of each project, no matter the scale or complexity.
